Hi, I am newbie ubuntu user. I have installed kvirc 4.1.1 both on ubuntu 11.04 (32bit, classic mode) and windows xp sp3. On windows xp I can install themes, On Ubuntu not. When I try to install a theme on ubuntu I have the follow error (translated from italian): "unable to decompress the selected file: Can not open file in read mode" Huh. the .kvt files are r/w. Tryed to resave themes on windows xp after loaded but on ubuntu with kvirc I have always this error. Any idea? thank you and sorry for my poor englis. ciao :-)

thank you, works fine now. the only "hassle" is that you must uninstall the old version of kvirci on ubuntu before installing a new version. thank you again. ciao :-)

no, if you install it in one line or install first kvirc-data than kvirc it should work.

Quote from: Bottom of the page
You need the kvirc-data package and the package build for your hardware (64bit or 32bit).

Additional you need the "universe" component in the sources.list for libcrypto++. You should type sudo apt-get install libcrypto++8 before installing the packages with sudo dpkg -i kvirc*.

To install it you should download the data-package and the package for your hardware in a dir and type sudo dpkg -i kvirc* (if there are only these 2 files beginning with kvirc_...).

You could also uninstall the ubuntu-version with synaptic and after that install the packages with the graphical tool without dependency problems.

To uninstall KVIrc you could use synaptic or type sudo dpkg -r kvirc

ok that text is quite old and with newer versions it got a bit hidden Wink
