Less than a week after launch, Anthem is getting a major patch today that seeks to rework much of the underlying problems players have discovered with the game's loot system, and BioWare has already released the patch notes on Reddit. The main point of contention with Anthem's loot relates to its Inscriptions; weapon modifications that can buff player's equipment with stat bonuses and amplifiers. As BioWare itself has noted, however, these Inscription drops aren't always useful to a player's current equipment, as they're tied to specific weapon types.

BioWare will be updating Anthem’s loot systems in the very near future. Anthem’s loot problems have been fuelling much of the discussion around the game. It’s gotten to the point that a former Diablo 3 designer, who plays Anthem, laid out a plan for how to fix them. BioWare seems to be listening, because the developer is making big changes that’ll be live by today or tomorrow. In a Reddit post, lead producer Ben Irving detailed what players can expect in the new loot system.

In a Reddit post, BioWare lead producer Ben Irving laid out all the changes they’re making this week to the game’s loot system. Some of the complaints revolved around the game’s weapon inscription feature, which gives weapons unique stats and could become useless to the weapon they’re attached to. These new rules apply to all loot earned after the release of this update, but not the items you already have. We’re still waiting on solid release times for these changes. If you’re having a hard time wrapping your head around the changes, it helps to understand what inscriptions are and the roles they serve in the first place.

BioWare has decided to adopt the latter approach. Rather than boost the drop rates for masterwork and legendary items as some have requested, the studio has decided to make the stat rolls (inscriptions) on individual drops better so players don’t feel the need to keep grinding for additional ones. This means better inscriptions on average for each masterwork item and no more useless inscriptions that don’t apply to the items they’re rolled on. The way inscriptions work is that they’re randomly generated and can belong to one of two categories: those whose effects apply to the entire Javelin and those whose effects apply only to the item they’re on.

BioWare has already promised several fixes and offered a 90-day roadmap for future content additions. These additions include the Elysian Stronghold Caches, which will put vanity gear as rewards within the game's current Strongholds. April adds a new Stronghold, the Sunken, and May will see the launch of the first Cataclysm, which will stand as the hardest content coming to Anthem. While Anthem got off to a rough start, it looks like BioWare is committed to making a much better experience in the future. Finally, to enjoy all the features in the game, players can Buy Anthem Shard Pack from Mmocs at a reasonable price.
